Modeling assets (Week 3)

Hook  I used the polygon cube to create the backing of the hook and then used a cylinder to create the actual hook. Books These book are on a shelf  and you only see mostly the back of the books so I kept the model quiet simple because there wouldn't need to be alot of detail one them. I used the smooth tool to add faces to the models and make them more rounded.  I did remove some edges because even though the smooth tool is quicker than adding faces yourself it can add unnecessary edges that you can remove without changing the shape too much.  This book is on the floor in the concept and has a bit more detail than the other books because you can see the shape better and looks like it has a bent corner so to be able to give it that look I did the same as the other books but had more before smoothing it. Plant Pot For the plant pot I did the same thing as for the books kept the model simple but also because you cant see into the pot I decided to keep the inside shallo...

Starting Modeling assets (Week 2)

Wardrobe I kept the main body of the wardrobe simple because I want to use textures to give it the details it has in the reference Started off trying to make it into one object but got a suggestion to split it up into smaller pieces to make it easier. Drawers In the concept art you don't see much of the draws which is why I have kept it simple. The knobs are separate models so I can line them up with the concept. Shelf For the shelf I used a screenshot form the movie and the concept art but comparing the two they are a bit different from each other. I used the concept for the shape and once need to create the texture Ill be using the movie reference. Walls & Floor I added walls and floor to make it easier to arrange the models later after I finish making them.

Planning

 I spent some time today to create a project timeline to try and keep up with all the assets I will have to create as well as how much time I think I will need to do the UV and texturing. The first few weeks will be experimental as I will get into a modeling flow and also figure out new techniques.

About the project I chose this to be the reference for my 3D modeling project, I wanted to challenge myself. During this project I'll be modeling, UVing and texturing this room which is a concept for Mirabel's room in the movie Encanto. Day 1 I made a list of all the items I can see in the reference to get a sense of the amount of assets I will need to make.
